About Us

West View Project has existed since 1980 when a group was formed by a group of residents who wanted to create somewhere children in the local area could play safely. This aim still sits at the core of the organisation & our Miers Avenue youth centre is open 4 evenings per week catering for young people aged 5 to 19.

For West View Project to continue to give children and young people a low-cost place to go to outside of school, which offers them a sense of belonging. Youth workers and volunteers allow children and young people to learn new skills and build confidence and resilience for the future, as well as have fun.

Our children and young people choose to come to West View Project, with youth clubs open to all.

Continuing relationships are also at the heart of youth clubs – both with friends and the adults who work here. For some children and young people, their relationship with their youth worker may be the only meaningful relationship they have with an adult – and it can be life changing.

West View Project is seen as a safe space for children and young people to be with friends in a social environment.

Being able to provide educational sessions in an informal setting on subjects including health, safety, sex and world issues, is important for children and young people to feel comfortable during these sessions hopefully encouraging them to ask questions openly.
